Tessera

Tessera is a professional pixel art editor for creating tilesets, sprite sheets, and pixel animations. It supports square, isometric and hex grids (both pointy-top and flat-top).

This is my most exciting project. After years of working with pixel art tools like Aseprite, Tessera focuses on features missing from existing editors, especially hex grid workflows, mockups, controllable animation preview, and more.

Key features include multi-layer editing with timeline animation, blend modes, a full set of drawing tools with resize and rotate, and efficient undo/redo with compressed diffs, plus a lot more planned for the future.

Built with Tauri and React and TypeScript on the frontend, keeping the app lightweight and performant as a native desktop experience.
